Description

Walking this route, you will take in sights and sounds of the local area, seeing Rook’s Nest across open fields. We shall be joined by Marion Ohlendorf of the Friends of Forster Country.

Edward Morgan Forster (1903-1970) was born into a wealthy family and grew up at Rooks Nest. He felt an affinity for the landscape which he sought to safeguard for the rest of his life. In 1893 the family moved away from Hertfordshire. But Forster visited Rooks Nest whenever he could. It features strongly in his novel Howards End (1910).

It is part of the British Schools Museum's Dreamers, Radicals & Satirists season. The ticket includes £1 off an entry ticket to the museum (T&Cs apply).

Children must be accompanied by an adult. The walk is 4 miles across country with some minor road walking. The terrain is fairly easy and we shall meet up at Pegsdon at 10am and anticipate finishing by 1pm. Joining instructions will be sent before the walk.
